What could i do to get more training to become a midwife?

Hi im 16 and i've been looking into becoming a midwife, i understand that you usually have to have a bachelor's degree, but i've been looking into university classes and it turns out their pretty competitive and restrictive on who they accept. so i was wondering, other than upgrading my science in school, what are some thing i could do to get some hands on training to show them i'm worthy of attending their school? any ideas would be amazing :D thankyou
