Is it better to buy a rail pass for Europe or to just pay for each leg as you travel?

Just go ride by ride, no eurail pass, its a lot simpler and cheaper, just look for the best prices from different train companies. In germany, the tickets are only like 15 euros for an adult with deutches bahn.
